Understanding Dental Checkups at Diamond Dental Arts

Dr. Gretel Perez Lopez

Why are dental checkups needed?

During a dental checkup, I can identify many issues in your mouth, which is why they're necessary. Here at Diamond Dental Arts, we like to schedule our patients specifically. Some patients need a dental checkup once a year, twice a year, or every two to three to four months.

What are the purpose of dental checkups?

Regular checkups can definitely prevent oral health issues because I conduct a rigorous analysis of your mouth. I'll check the X-rays to see what's going on, identifying any issues with your teeth and gums.

What happens at a dental checkup at Diamond Dental Arts?

  1. When my patient arrives, they meet with my hygienist, we take X-rays, then the doctor comes in for the exam, and the hygienist performs the cleaning.
  2. During the exam, I determine what might be wrong with your teeth. I'm looking for anything that could be problematic in your mouth, including issues with your gums, bones, and teeth.
  3. I also like to perform an oral cancer exam at least once a year.

Will a dental checkup be painful?

Dental checkups don't hurt at all. It's just me with my explorer and mirror, checking your teeth, and the X-rays help us see any issues. Dental checkups are completely painless.
